As the video footage recorded by the vehicle's black box at the time of the accident was released, the case was reported by the media as if it had been a sudden unintended acceleration accident (i.e., as if product liability should be recognized). But, as the court found that the cause of the accident was not the vehicle's defect (sudden unintended acceleration), consequently BMW Korea won the case. Even though there were media reports on Toyota's settlement with the victims of unintended acceleration incidents in the US and the US first-instance court rendered a decision partially in favor of the victims Yoon & Yang LLC made rigorous efforts and court decided in favor of the client.
